12/120 - What a difference a week and a half makes

Let's start by showing off my fun new hat from Grandma
How's this angle mom?

What about this view?

The below video shows you just how far McKenzie has come in catching her balance while walking after just a week and a half. She was actually walking circles around me tonight while I was talking to my mom on the phone...I told her I felt like someone in a shark attack movie!

this is not an official post

Please forgive me DeeAnn. I have been so sick since Sunday (like could not drag my butt out of bed at all yesterday sick) and so have not gotten any picutres in quite some time. However DeeAnn graciously agreed to watch McKenzie on Monday and took some amazing pictures of McKenzie. I have posted our favourites here. This is an update for those of you jonesing for a McKenzie fix and does not count toward the 120 posts this year and again I hope you don't mind me using them DeeAnn.

Enjoy!

11/120 - Shoes shoes shoes

So now that McKenzie is walking I have been looking for different shoes for her to wear around. She has rather large feet and they are so cute and fat so it is actually quite difficult for her to find shoes. Hopefully she grows out of that. I have found 2 different shoes that fit her, one well and one okay. The okay shoes are plastic and pleather knock offs at Zellers for 19.99 and the really good fit ones are Jack and Lily shoes and they are made with leather and doctor approved flex soles that allow the kids to have added stability while still having the flex so that their foot develops properly for 29.99...hmm when I weighed the pros and cons the $10 seemed worth it so I took the plunge and bought her the "expensive" shoes. Then I made the mistake of checking out their web site and found 3 other pair I would like to buy her but maybe I will restrain myself for now...these ones are pink and brown and 85-90% of her wardrobe is pink or brown so they should work for now. For those of you with kids check out their web site though - so cute.

let sleeping babies lie!

I really really wanted to get a picture of McKenzie in front of the TV while President Obama was being sworn in. Unfortunately she was sleeping. I thought it would be interesting to look back and see her as she was during this historic event. I must say I am proud to live in a world and that McKenzie will live in a world where this was possible. I hope the next four years and ...dare I say... the four after that bring about the change and fulfill the hope that the world seems to be feeling right now! Best wishes to the Obamas.

10/120 - Vernon

Usually when we go to Vernon I use my mom's camera to take pictures then I don't have to bring one. Unfortunately, it broke half way through our trip so I don't have many pictures to share from our trip.
Grandpa was sitting up but it looks like he is falling off the couch in this shot...McKenzie seems to think so too.
Playing with the tassel on Grandma's housecoat.

Great Grandma Cucheron turned 93 on Sunday so we went over to visit with her. McKenzie thought the flowers that Uncle Ryan and Aunty Bobbie gave to Grandma were very interesting ... especially the little bird on the bow.
We had a quick but nice visit with everyone. McKenzie seems to really enjoy going to Vernon as there are so many people around her all the time. She does love an audience!

9/120 - Getting ready to go out

I snapped a couple of shots of McKenzie while we were getting ready to go out today. She got this adorable coat as part of an outfit for her birthday from Mike's Aunt Mary. The pants are a little big but the shirt and coat fit her with room to grow. Doesn't she look adorable?

Love the rose in the back!

8/120 - cute

Okay Mom you need to work on our self portrait skills!
Look at me Standing By Myself! This was not our pose for a Johnson's and Johnson's ad. It is part of McKenzie's favourtie pre-bath and post-bath game.
We put the shampoo on the toilet...

...then we take it off the toilet...

...then we pick it up and put it on the toilet...

...do you see a pattern developing?

7/120 - My apologies

Though, technically, it is the 13th and if you divide that by 3 I only NEED to be on post 4.33 and I was on post 6; it has been pointed out to me that post 6 was on FRIDAY and that was A LONG TIME AGO so perhaps I should post something. Never one to disappoint my fans...

Here is McKenzie. Note she is smiling under her soother. "Hi Mom, nice to see you" is what I imagine she was thinking.
Then I tried to take the remote away...note that the expression is not so friendly and the grip has tightened on it quite a bit.

And that is because she was watching one of her favourite shows. In the Night Garden. I don't understand it, I don't like it, I don't know why she likes it, and most importantly, I DON'T MATTER cause she thinks it is the BEST THING EVER and sits silent and still for 30 MINUTES to watch it.
Shudder!

6/120 - Recycling

Who needs toys when there is a box of boxes around.

McKenzie has been a little fussy tonight. She has had a fever most of this week due either to teething or her shots and has just been a bit out of sorts. Tonight she was just not herself...until she found the boxes set aside for recycling and they kept her entertained for at least 20 min and in 1year old time that's like a WEEK!

5/120 - walking...almost

Such a big girl walking around. Not quite on her own yet but she does pretty good with a little support.
Carpet is a bit of a speed bump and requires a lot of effort on her part to make the transition from tile.
She also frequently runs into furniture...curse of a small house.
Sometimes it's just easier to "walk" on her knees.
She has learned how to sit herself on this chair...still not quite a smooth process.

My mom taught me to make freezer jam this summer. She saved me some raspberries and strawberries and brought them over and this is the first batch of jam (raspberry) that I ever made all by myself...watch out Martha...here I come!

4/120 - Whooooo's making such a frowny face?

I guess they didn't want to have their pictures taken...I just wanted to show Heather how cute the shirt looked on McKenzie. Oh well at least you get to see their matching frowns...she looks just a bit like her Dad eh?

120 posts or bust

So I am not as brave as some of my comrades in the post brigade and can't bring myself to commit to 365 posts in 365 days. I have decided to challenge myself to 120 posts this year which is roughly 1 post every 3 days. If I manage to do this, then next year I will try for 183 or one ever other day and if I manage to do that then I will try the 365 but we will see as there is the possibility that we will have another baby by then and that could just get busy! Wish me luck!

3/120 - Carrots

McKenzie loves to eat anything orange! Oranges, cheese and especially carrots. They have always been cooked in the past. Well today, she decided it was time to up the ante to raw. I was eating raw baby carrots as part of my lunch and she leaned over and grabbed one off my plate. She really did not want anything else and kept trying to gnaw on it so I finally gave in and let her try. She did pretty good for only 8 teeth!

2/120 - Lazy and cold Saturday afternoon

Playing nicely with her toys. Look at those red cheeks. Can you say TEETHING!
Um...playing not so nicely with her toys??!!
Look at all the hair she is getting and I do believe I see some wave forming.
This was my quick attempt to capture her standing all on her own but when she does it 3" away it is hard to get the full effect on camera.

1/120 - to smile or not to smile

McKenzie's favourite spot to watch TV lately. She seems to love laying on her tummy and watching her shows. I seem to remember liking this position when I was a kid...now I would end up in traction!
I asked for a smile...um...not quite sweety.

Still a no cutey pie!

Oh well, she's still cute in her new sweater from Aunty Jenien.
