269 - We had a "Biggs" dinner last night...

Okay, bad pun I know.
We went over to drop off something for Grandma Heather and the Biggs boys, girl and Cindy were over. We came in to play and Heather and Gord kindly invited us to stay for tacos. Since I had no real plans for dinner I happily accepted.
The kids had a fun time playing and I think Mickey and McKenzie progressed their "relationship" as their goodbye kiss was really wet and sloppy.
(For those of you who don't know, McKenzie told me the other day that Mickey was her boyfriend. She later told me Maks is still her boyfriend so I think we may have our hands full with our two timing little gal.)

Keegan, stopped and smiled every time I had a camera out. It was quite cute. He would stop mid-sentance to "pose".

He was also our little babysitter as he "kept an eye" on things for us when the kids were playing outdoors and took care of blowing McKenzie's nose and helping her with her dinner. Such a little man!

Conversation at dinner:

Keegan: So. McKenzie, how's your dinner?

McKenzie: Good

Keegan: That's good.

Me: Now ask Keegan how his dinner is McKenzie.

McKenzie: How's dinner Keeeeegan?

Keegan: Great thanks for asking. Do you need me to cut up your hamburger for you?

McKenzie: No thanks.

Keegan: Okay just let me know.

This little "adult" exchange made me chuckle.

268 - Meet Rilla and Laura

We went to Sunridge mall tonight after work and McKenzie begged me to take her into the "Animal store" or the wood carving store to the rest of us. She loved looking at all the very good and VERY expensive carvings. Then she saw these little cats and fell in love. For $7 I made her very happy.
I asked her what their names were and she said she didn't know. I told her to think about it and a few moments later she told me that the one on the left is Rilla and the one on the right is Laura.
Don't know where she came up with those names but she seemed happy with them.

267 - Proofread

Wonder if they proofread???
Silly thing is that this has been on my desk for a week and I only noticed the GLARING error today.

266 - Manicure

McKenzie wanted to have her nails painted tonight. Afterward she wanted to paint my nails. She ended up painting my nails and my fingers but she had fun.
Later she put on Daddy's hat and played as "daddy" for about 30 minutes.

bonus post

265 - Things I loved today...

Though I love my daughter's drawing and painting, I found what I was really loving today was her palette when she was done painting. Sort of wish I could have framed it.
Love her laugh
Just plain old love her!

264 - Make a wish...

Jenien and I took McKenzie shopping at Southcentre Mall tonight and she discovered what fun it could be making a wish and throwing money in.
Wonder what she is wishing for.
Do you think there is any chance it is this dress? It's what I was wishing for; for her.

She would look so cute dressed up as Belle in this dress but the $180 price tag made me realize that will not happen any time soon. Sigh.

263 - Shoes

McKenzie wears a size 8 shoe. My friend Daphne gave her some hand me down shoes from her daughter Ashlynn. These shoes are all size 10 or 11.
McKenzie saw them tonight and decided she HAD to wear them around tonight.
The are "a little" big but according to her; they are "pe-fect".
Too cute for words.
McKenzie's picture of her sick Mommy.
Stupid cold doesn't realize I don't have time to be sick right now. Come back in November and we can talk then but September and October is already booked so sorry but I have to decline the visit right now.

262 - Smile!

Smile cookies are here. Tonight I picked one up for McKenzie on the way home and she got it after dinner since she was a good girl and ate a lot of dinner.
I'm...

...going to...

EAT YOU!

261 - Bliss...

...a state of profound satisfaction, happiness and joy, undisturbed by gain or loss.
Hmmmm...well cupcakes bring me a profound satisfaction, happiness and joy but they do cause a loss of my control and I; therefore; gain weight so I only agree with half of the definition!
We were out and about shopping this morning and stopped in to see Shelby at work.
Their cupcakes are mmmm, mmmm, yummy. I really liked the lemon one and McKenzie really liked the mint/chocolate one. My mom couldn't decide which one she liked best so we agreed they are all really, really good.

260 - Happy Birthday Lawrence

My mom and McKenzie and I headed over to Kari and Lawrence's today to help celebrates Lawrence's ## birthday.
a
Eating cake is such serious business when you are two that you don't even notice all the noise and motion around you.
Lawrence is a popular guy!
When we got home, McKenzie was snacking on crackers and kept getting crumbs on herself. This was my solution to keep them from getting all over the house. Is it wrong to vacuum your child?
She kept laughing and telling me it tickled so i guess it was okay.

259 - Manicure

Grandma came to stay for the weekend. She forgot her nailpolish so we went over to Walmart after dinner to pick some up for her. McKenzie was a good girl so we let her pick out some too.
She was very excited about her manicure; pink with butterfly and flower stickers.

258 - Happy Friday

Thank goodness I made it. Whew.
Busy week with ups and downs all over the place.
h
As a Friday pick me up, I went over to Sunridge Mall and picked up some Sheer Cover at the as seen on TV store.
My friend Jenien uses it and really likes it.
a
I really like mineral make up but have been without the stuff I normally use (Bare Minerals) and have not gotten around to ordering it or making time to get to Chinook Mall to pick some up.
So today I wore it after I got it and so far I quite like it too.
Tonight I gave in and we went to McDonald's for dinner. When we got home, the dogs rushed McKenzie and were sniffing her and licking her.
g
She started yelling at them "NO, STOP, GO."
j
I told her she doesn't have to yell at them just tell them no and go inside.
g
She looks at me and says, "I know, I'm just frustrated!"

257 - Going to work

Hand-me-downs are great. My friend Daphne often gives us clothes and toys her daughter has outgrown. On Tues she dropped off a two wheeler bike for McKenzie and this little Barbie carrier that looks like a little house when opened up.
......
Tonight she packed it up,
closed it up and told me she was going to work.
After she said goodbye and walked away I heard her telling Barbie that after work they had to get some groceries.

Sometimes I forget how much of a sponge she is.

255 - Get your bowling shoes out...

I joined a bowling league and tonight was our first night.
Had a good time and a low average, just means I can go up from here!
McKenzie was babysat by her second cousin, Rachel, tonight for the first time. I was a little nervous but Rachel said everything went well. McKenzie said she had fun with Rachel so I guess it worked out okay.

254 - Whew...crisis averted

We took a trip to the mall today. Still no black cat costume.
McKenzie had seen a picture of a Hamburger costume at Old Navy online and she really decided she wanted to be a Hamburger.
So we headed to the mall...of course they had none in stock.
Her third choice was to be a "Tiger!"
They didn't have her size.
She said with dejection in her voice, "I be this one Mommy" and pionted at the sharks.
I told her not to settle that we could find something she wanted to be especially cause I knew we could order the other two she wanted online in her size for the same sale price and no shipping right now.
Then she looked over and saw it and her little face lit up, "Dragon!"

I think she really likes it since she had to try it on before her nap and we put it on as soon as she woke up. She only took it off because she got hot.
Whew...crisis averted.

253 - Tommy K...again...and a hunt for a black cat

McKenzie and I had so much fun at Tommy K Play last night that we decided to take Daddy there again after dinner to show him around.
He did mention that the bumps on the slide were harder on his anatomy than they are on mine!
After that we headed to WalMart to look for Kenzie's Halloween costume. She has been asking to be a black cat. When she first asked, I thought "Oh thank goodness. Something that will be easy to find." Or so I thought! IF anyone finds a black cat costume in toddler size 4 PLEASE let me know ASAP. I am having so much trouble finding one and she doesn't seem to want to be distracted. I may have to whip out the sewing machine. YIKES!
She had fun playing with the costumes and accesories in the Halloween department but seemed a little sad when I told her they didn't have a black cat cosutme.

252 - Tommy K Play

Kari pointed out to me a sign a few weeks back for Tommy K Play. We waited and hoped that it was a drop in playground finally opening on 130th Ave.
WE WERE RIGHT.
They opened up today so Kari and Maks and McKenzie and I went over to check it out.
Race car track
Puzzles
Ride ons (in case you are wondering that red blur is Maks)
And so much more. McKenzie needed some help on the bigger apparatus but had so much fun. Since I was helping her I couldn't take pics and when I wasn't helping her there were so many other kids around it was hard to get a picture.
Tonight was free but normally it is $8.95 per kid and adults are free.
Overall a fun night.

251 - Puppy's rough night

First puppy got shoved in a box with a bunch of other toys he really doesn't know all that well.
Then he got a time out for hitting McKenzie.
This is McKenzie sitting down and explaining to puppy why he is in time out and why it was wrong to hit.
Poor guy. I think he was framed. I never saw him do it and some of the toys in that box looked a little suspicious to me!

250 - picking paint colours

Sounds simple...but it's not.
Do we stay neutral? Add more colour? Add an accent wall? If we stay neutral do we go browns or grays? If we go colour is it bright or soft? Ahhhhhhh decorating stress!

249 - Favourites

While McKenzie had a bath before bed last night she was in the mood to chat so I started asking her questions about her likes and favourites.
When she answered me I ran to get paper and a pen from the bedroom to write down her answers.
Q. What is your favourite colour?
A. Black

She will not really expand on her answers and will ask you why 100 million times but if you ask her why she just looks at you like you are silly for asking.
This morning Mike was in a hurry to get going as he had a chiropractor appointment. He kept trying to get McKenzie to hurry up and time after time, "Why" was the answer he heard. Finally he was told "Calm down, Daddy"
Ah my, cheeky monkey!

248 - late summer or early fall afternoon???

It has been fairly yucky this weekend and we had a slight reprieve today. I spent this morning at my aunt's learning how to make perogies.
This afternoon, McKenzie and I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and go outside.
Here are some pictures that we took of our afternoon.
This is a mushroom that McKenzie picked for me.
Pointing out all the bees and flies to me.
She picked me this flower too.
Do you think we need to cut our grass....you almost can't see her boots!
Through the jungle grass.
Picking more flowers.
Another "baby" mushroom McKenzie picked for me.
It's soooo cute.
Wearing one of her flowers.
McKenzie likes to pick me flowers and then "plant" them in the boarder of this planter.
My petunia's did fairly well this year.
Do you remember when you thought you were the fastest thing in the world when you ran...
....before you learned that perhaps you weren't and just enjoyed the feel of the wind as you ran?
I love watching her run.
Chasing Mommy
I'll be right back, 'K Mommy?
Some of McKenzie's pictures from this afternoon.
