bits of this and that

My hip hurts. Don't know why. Apparently it is the muscle. Therefore, I am high on Advil and still in pain so less than inspired today. Here are a bit of this and that pictures which I took today.
Doing something she loves: Reading
With something she hates: Wearing a Hat
I love this hat. Couldn't resist it. She is not so in love. Shocked she left it on long enough to get some pictures of it.

McKenzie wants to move so bad she can taste it...don't think even crawling would satisfy her at this point...
This baby was made for walking
And that's just what she'll do
Even if it will make her mommy very very blue! Not really blue I suppose...just amazed that she is big enough to walk. And she will be getting into more stuff then...the blinds are already a favourite!

Vanna

Is it just me? Did anyone else like Wheel of Fortune way better when you used to have to take all the money you won and shop for stuff in the little rooms? I loved that part. When I was little I loved watching Vanna show off the stuff and Barker's Beauties demonstrating and showing off things.
In that vein...we purchased a new throw and some throw cushions for the couch at Bay days (thanks mom for pointing out that it was on and for the anniversary gift of a g/c so we could go SHOPPING).
Here is our own version of Vanna showing off the new stuff.

Bath time fun

McKenzie loves the bath. If she is in a rotten mood, all you have to do to turn her day around is give her a bath. Wouldn't it be nice if a simple bath could turn your whole day around?
Here is a little video of our goofball having fun in the bath tonight.

Patio

So three years ago Mike and I thought it would be nice to put in a patio. We went and bought some brick and brought it home. And there it has sat, untouched for 3 years. The first year Mike got sick and could not complete it. The second year he concentrated on the front yard. This year he completed the sod, dog area and rebuilt part of the fence. We started to work on it and realized we were completely out of our depth and did what we should have done in the first place, hired someone. Artistic Garden Designs. George was quick, cheap and friendly. He did an amazing job and we ended up being able to afford to upgrade our stone to much nicer stuff (so if you know of anyone looking for patio stone to finish a project we have a lot to sell - cheap). Here are a few pics. I wanted to have my favourite model posing on it but she had to nap - sheesh! :)

Cannelloni

Mommy was tired so M&M's Cannelloni it was for dinner tonight. A favourite easy meal for all three of us. McKenzie absolutely loves them.
We are trying to limit our pre-packaged food with all the scariness going on out there right now but tonight I just could not face cooking.

McKenzie's got a couple of favourite new things that she pulled out for us at dinner tonight:
1. She enjoys clamping her teeth onto things now that she has top and bottom teeth. Usually it is food, cookies, crackers etc but tonight it was her spoon. Mike couldn't get it out of her mouth!

2. The Point. She has started pointing at people. Thinks it is great. Points at everyone she can. Strangers in a line up, people in a store, or us. It is very cute. I guess I can wait awhile to tell her that pointing can be rude...at least until she can talk I think.

Barbie Dolls

Hello, my name is Lisa and I love Barbie Dolls. Yes it's true. I can't help it. They were my favourite toy as a child. I think I got my first one at 3 and I played with them actively until I was about 13. I gave into society and "the norm" and stopped playing with them after that ... mostly. I loved it when someone would come over with a little girl so I could get them all out.
I often tell Mike that McKenzie is the best Barbie Doll I ever had. Not only can I dress her up and play with her but she plays back. She never complains about what I dress her in (not yet) and always looks cute. The one complaint is that she has no long locks which I can brush and wash and play with. Sigh. Both Mike and I had sooo much hair as children. Do two hairs make a baldy?

Well in snapping some pics of her tonight, I thought I saw...could it be...no...really...is that hair growing on her head. Why yes it is. She is finely growing some hair. YEAH!

Independant girl

We were given this jacket as a baby gift for McKenzie last winter. It is a size 18 months and almost fits! Should do her through this winter. If today was anything to go by that should start right about NOW! Can't believe I had to put her in a winter jacket in Sept.
We stopped by to eat lunch with Daddy. After lunch little Miss Independant decided that she had things to do and people to see. She wants to move so bad. It is not far off...scary thought.
"Did you see this chair Mom?"
"Looks sound."
"Fabric seems to be in good shape."
"Good enough to hug, Mom!"
After our chair inspection McKenzie decided to use it to take a snack break. Love the crossed legs.
"I got it Mom. Just let go."
"What you lookin' at?"
After stopping in to see Daddy, McKenzie and I went shopping and came home with this new rug for the living room floor. Much nicer to play on than just tile.

Lies - they're all lies

So the medicine bottle said it was okay to give to a child as young as 2 or over 24 pounds.
McKenzie weighed in at 25lbs 14oz today at the doctor's office (fully clothed) and so I wasn't worried that I had given her a few shots of cold medicine. LIES! The doctor said that the medical community is currently recommending no cold medicine for anyone under 6 - yes you read that right 6! Sheesh. My poor little girl will just have to tough it out now. Snot watch 2008 here we come!
On a happier note she does seem to be feeling a bit better and loves her bath time. Splashing like a maniac is her new favourite activity in the bath made even better if she can splash big enough to hit mom and make her scream. The beard was a side effect from all the splashing.

Favourite photo series of McKenzie

This is Mike's favorite series of photos of McKenzie. He loves how it shows her concentration and determination to never quit. She was so determined to get that Cheerio from her tray to her mouth and was so proud of herself when she did it.

This is my favourite series of pictures that I have taken of McKenzie so far. Eating her first Gelato with Dad on Father's Day. I love that it shows her determination and they way she throws herself into everything she does...and that she really likes ice cream.

First Post

I have been blog stalking others for awhile now and thought it was about time that I make the jump and start my own blog. For anyone who doesn't know I have a daughter, McKenzie, who is 9.5 months old...hence the blog name because let's be honest, all the interesting stuff in my life happens about her, for her or because of her! This is also a nice way for Grandma to get pics and video to see her grow and change. For those who have not been seeing pictures of her all along I thought I would post a selection of her first few months.
Newborn
One Month - not enjoying my Bumbo
Two Months
Three Months - ready for my close up
Four Months - Hotel life is fun
Five Months - SWEET POTATOES AHHHHH
Six Months
Seven Months - Stampede Cutey
Eight Months
Nine Months - Too hungry to wait for dinner Dad
McKenzie is currently sick so it has been a long few days. Taking her to the doctor this afternoon as this cold has been lingering for about a month; poor kid. We are also getting our patio done and so with the landscaper in the backyard the dogs have been pretty cooped up so sick baby and bored dogs, yikes! Life has been interesting. Will try and post more interesting stuff as I get more used to this.
