209 - We're packed and ready to go Grandma...

'...just hang in there.

For those that don't know, my Grandma Thurston is not doing well. She is in the hospital with cancer and things don't look good. McKenzie and I are heading out tomorrow to Vernon. Not sure how long we will be out there...thinking a week or so but we will see how things go. I have until August 16 off of work. As we will be in Vernon for the next bit, blog posts may be spotty but I will do my best.

208 - Colouring

McKenzie's colouring is getting more and more precise. She is getting good at colouring inside the lines and doing more and more detail work in both her colouring and drawing.
I love how she concentrates to do this and gets really really close to what she is working on.

207 - Outside

Finally got McKenzie some sand for her sandbox. She was very excited to go out tonight and play in it after dinner.
"By the power of greyskull..."
She loves filling this little seahorse full of sand and then dumping him all over herself.
Action shot taken just before she found the dead mouse in the yard that one of the dogs killed earlier today...my money's on Zoe. She was VERY upset that I made her go in and wash her hands right away and not keep touching it.
Okay, I will take any help and suggestions there are out there. McKenzie has perma-plumbers crack. She is sooooo long in the body that her pants fit her like low riders no matter the size I buy and she is wearing a size 4 shirt so it sits long on her AND I have her in both boy short and breif style panties so they don't fit ridiculously low but still no matter the outfit - crack. Other than only dressing her in dresses can anyone think of something I can try?
McKenzie got a butterfly net that came with bug catching containers and tweezers (clearance rack at superstore when I got playsand) and she had a blast trying to catch ants and finally decided that rocks were easier to catch and put in the containers.
Now it is raining so we are watching the Wiggles. SUPER FUN.

206 - Play date

We went over and spent the morning and Aunty Kari and Uncle Lawrence's house.
We started with a snack of yogurt and berries and she was in the mood to smile so I took advantage of it.
McKenzie was not intested in Maks' favourite toy ... WATER!
We broke for lunch...Ahhh their first candlelight meal...does it count that it was a citronella candle???

205 - lunch

I love her eyes in this picture but I think she looks so guilty, as if she shouldn't have been eating lunch. Goof.
Much better.
Even better. Daddy was threatening to eat her lunch.
I think she got the name a little mixed up as shortly after this she asked me to help her with her "crap my dinner".

204 - Dancing Queen

First you turn the music up on your computer.
Then you spin, spin, spin to the music.
Then you drop and roll, roll, roll.
Ta Da

203 - Love Triangle

Luckily, Kaeden explained the situation to me that we find ourselves in.
We have a love triangle apparently.
So, according to Kaeden, McKenzie loves him and Maks likes her BUT Kaeden likes someone else SO it's okay that Maks likes her. The girl's not his girlfriend but, like, his future girlfriend.
Right little soap opera we have going on.
The three participants in our little intrugue.
Hmm...perhaps Kaeden is egging on McKenzie's affections.
At least they can put all their romantic feelings aside to play in a civilized manner.
Future gymnast??
Finally we all settled down to watch Buzz.
Before we left Kaeden tattooed McKenzie and Maks.
All in all a fun night filled with intrigue.

202 - Retro

Loving that I get to watch Flintstones on teletoon retro.
Loving that McKenzie is just as engrossed in them as I was.
Bonus Pic.
Did a little reading up on the internet on different "non-automatic" features on my cameras so I have been testing them out in the last few days. Much harder sometimes to get "the shot" but when I do I think it is a better shot.

201 - Tolkien Quote 2

"Must have the precious."
JRR Tolkien

200 - Tolkien quote 1

It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.
JRR Tolkien
Do you think I can get McKenzie to buy that? She has figured out how to open doors now. She could open doors that had the flat handle type of doorknob but always had trouble with the round type. She is well on her way to mastering it now.

"Hmmmm, now what to eat?"

Very proud of herself.

199 - Trip to Walmart

Everyone has been talking about the good prices at the groceries at the Walmart Supercentre so, since we needed groceries tonight, we thought we would check it out. McKenzie was such a good girl while we made our way around the store that we treated her to a ride in the "Hotdog truck" after we were done.
I was suprised at the length of the ride. Certainly the best value for dollar of these types of rides we have seen.

198 - Full Day

We started the day off heading back to Callaway Park.
Rides, Rides, Rides
Fun, Fun, Fun
I love how she has her hands out relaxing on the train ride.
Weeeeee.
Thank goodness Daddy is brave enough to take her on all these rides...Mommy is too wimpy.
Mmmmmm sugar!
STICKY
We're outta here.
Then after a 3.5 hour nap for McKenzie and Mommy we went over to Kari, Lawrence and Maks' house and walked over to Blockbuster with them. Maks and McKenzie thought this was the best place ever and played chase around the store.
We took them over in the wagon and when we got back to their place, McKenzie took Maks for a ride around the yard.
Hard to get started.
This looks much easier when Mommy does it.
Even with a nap today I am ready for bed...busy day.

197 - Joke

McKenzie's new joke.
McKenzie: Knock Knock
You: Who's there?
McKenzie: Apple Pie
You: Apple Pie who?
McKenzie: Don't cry it's only Kenzie.
And then she laughs like it's the funniest thing she has ever heard. I believe she has meshed two jokes Mike and I told her together into one and put her own spin on it with the apple pie bit.
At least she finds it funny.

196 - Pineapple still life

This was the most tropical thing in my house to set up a big congratulations to...

...my mommy who won an all expense paid trip to the Dominican Republic. She was notified this week that she won the trip though Safeway's 1,000,000 Touchdown to Win contest. She has until the end of 2011 to claim the trip and can choose anywhere in the Dominican she would like to go. If anyone out there has been somewhere nice in the Dominican I am sure she would appreciate your comments/suggestions so leave a post here.
Congrats Mom. Work on the $50,000,000 tomorrow night next okay?
