89/120 - Travelling days

These pics were taken on the way to Vernon. We walked the dogs around one at a time in Golden to give them a bathroom break and McKenzie a car seat break.
Here she is annoying Harley, which in turn, is entertaining her!
Hey wait a minute...I've got his leash but he is moving!
You'd better take it Mom!
On the way back to Calgary today, we stopped in Sicamous at D Dutchman Dairy farms. No stop there is complete without ice cream. Since Daddy was going crazy for some Tiger Tiger ice cream, we started with the ice cream.

Holy Ice Cream Face Batman!
Yum, Carmel Pecan Crunch.
...Mixed with Tiger tiger...hmmm.
That was so good. What's next?
While Daddy walked the dogs we visited the calf barn.
Hi Cows!
Hi Mom!
Look at this mess?!?
I'll help.
Here you go cows.
McKenzie was determined to pick up all the hay on the ground and put it in the trough for the cows. She was doing such a good job other tourists were getting a kick out of it.
This sign was hanging on the door of the calf barn...maybe she should apply?!
Almost home and done with travel for awhile.

Standing: Bobbie and Ryan (My brother and sister-in-law), Sitting: Harry, Lorraine and Grandma Cucheron (My dad's mom, sister and brother-in-law).

Erwin and Judy, our neighbours and the man of the hour.
My dad's brother Elmer in the corner.
Singing to Grandpa while Grandma sets down the yummy ice cream cake.
Happy Birthday to both Grandpa's. McKenzie is lucky to have you both.

87/120 - my little gardener returns

McKenzie decided she was old enough to help Grandma water her flowers.
You have to get them all Grandma!

83/120 - Firsts

So many firsts in the last year and a half. Today McKenzie had her first taste of nutella and her first run in with a sprinkler.
Enjoy!
Lambie: You want her to try WHAT! I don't know if she will like it Dad. Give it a try.
Let's try this stuff.
Ummmm...
...you eat it!
Not loving it.

Sticky!
McKenzie and her first sprinkler. She wasn't so sure about it.
After a quick costume change (she hates wet clothes) she was back at it.
She thought this watering spout is very interesting.
Even makes a good instrument!

82/120 - Experts recommend...

So I know experts recommend limiting or not letting young children watch TV. But really! Come on! I was raised being allowed to watch TV and I did well in school, play nicely with others (most days) and have no plans to go on a serial killing spree so I don't think I turned out so bad. We do let McKenzie watch TV. More than some and less than some - I am sure.

Here are a few of her favourite TV watching spots lately.
Sitting on the floor in front of her comfy chair.
Laying on the couch with her juice and a snack if she can convince us to get her one! Just change the sippy cup for a beer bottle and Al Bundy here we come...hmm...maybe we do need to reconsider this TV thing!
Cheeese! McKenzie has started putting her fingers in here ears. She just seems to do it randomly and for no reason. I checked and they are clean. No loud noises or any "reason" I can tell that she is doing it. She does like to talk a lot when she has them in there though so I am thinking maybe she just likes how things echo differently when your ears are plugged. Any thoughts blog followers????
Just so you don't think she only watches TV here are a few from our horsey riding today.
This would have been super cute but she was in motion and the camera "morphed" away part of her head!

81/120 Itsy Bitsy

The itsy bitsy spider...
...went up the water spout.
Down came the rain and washed the spider out!
Up came the sun and dried up all the rain...
...and the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again.
Yeah! That was fun.
Actions done to mom and dad singing the song. Too cute. Will try and get it on video as it may "show" better that way.

80/120 - Butterfield Acres

This morning we took McKenzie to Butterfield Acres. It is a farm in the NW where kids can play and interact with the animals. I only had a small sense of irony when I was paying for McKenzie's "opprtunity" to interact with the farm animals, as I took every excuse I could not to interact with our farm animals growing up and it was all free...encouraged even by my parents.
McKenzie loved all the goats they had wandering around and learned how to say BAAAAA.
She really enjoyed petting the animals.
Where are you bunnies?
Hey Dad, their truck looks like it's in good shape! McKenzie was fascinated by the strangest things. The animals were nice but the truck and equipment they had around were equally as fascinating to her.
We stopped into their toddler play area. She had a blast playing on all the "new" toys.

She really does like the slide now but both shots I got of her on the slide look like she would rather not be there. She runs too it though and claps at the bottom.
She also felt the need to hug every tree in this bunch of trees.
Hug 1.
On to the next tree.
Hug 2
Hug 3
Hug 4
Hug 5 - our little tree hugger.
What is the crazy driver doing?
Backwards worked better as when Mike tried to push her forward she put on the Flintstone brakes...feet firmly planted on the ground.
This slide is more my size yet I still look unsure.
They had lots of animals for petting. This donkey helped to distract us on the way to lunch.
Lunch break!
McKenzie LOVED the baby chicks. She did so good petting them with one finger and was so gentle. They are very cute at this stage. She didn't want to leave the coop.
Her first pony ride.
McKenzie loved her pony ride. The girl leading the pony thought she might be scared but she giggled and laughed from the moment I put her on the saddle. When she wasn't laughing she was kicking his sides and saying GO GO GO. She started to shake the pommel when the ride stopped and demanded he GO.
She managed to stay awake for the pony ride at 1pm but couldn't make it for the wagon ride at 1:45pm. Nap time is usually around 1ish and she was just done after running around all morning. She fell asleep on the ride home and is still down. A little expensive from my perspective but cheaper than many things to do in the city and she had a lot of fun so I think we will definately be back as we only saw about a 1/3 of the farm. They still have more animals, the wagon ride and a giant sandbox to discover.
