Worms for dinner???

Slurp!
We had spaghetti last night for dinner. We always cut up McKenzie's into nice small little pieces. When Mike went back for seconds, he slurped his spaghetti up. McKenzie thought this was hilarious. Today for lunch McKenzie and I had leftovers. Again I cut hers up. she ate most of it up then I had my longer pieces. She "asked" for a longer piece so I gave her one to see what she would do. She tried to Slurp! When she could not get the mechanics worked out she gobbled it up. She never ceases to amaze me.
On another note...
Is it wrong to be this excited about a closet???? Mike was able to get the new closet organizer installed in the entry way closet. Isn't it beautiful???? I may be too excited! We set it up so that as McKenzie gets older all her hats, shoes and coats will be at kid height. I'm so happy (insert contented sigh here).

She'll be mad about this one when she's older.

We know a few people who have kids that when they take a poop they are very polite about it. Silent and until you smell it or they tell you you'd never know.
Our daughter is not like that and never has been. Since birth her face changes colour to a purpley pink, contorts and there is enourmously loud grunting to accompany it.
In the interest of the memory I had to capture some of tonight's "performance" for posterity.

Cheerleader

Our own little cheerleader getting ready to go see Santa. She found this witches broom I had in the basement with the Halloween stuff and decided it was really fun.
Took her to see Santa tonight...she was less than impressed with that whole experience. Sat her down and she cried like we were giving her away...she was so pitiful. Walked around a bit and thought we would try again...not much better. One picture with her looking at Santa with a What the... look on her face and one picture with the lip quiver and pure misery...since i signed most of my Christmas cards have a happy and relaxing holiday season...I thought the irony of including the absolutely stressed and miserable picture was quite fitting. I will scan and post the picture closer to Christmas.

Food Fight!

She may look angelic but...
She'll throw down and challenge you to a fight! "Wanna GO!"
McKenzie challenged me to a bean fight...
...and it was a fairly even match until...
...she cheated by stealing my bean!

50 weeks ago today...

50 weeks ago today McKenzie was born. In two weeks she will be ONE YEAR OLD! How scary is that. I can't believe how fast this time has gone...such a cliche I know. I am trying to get things done for back to work and her first birthday and Christmas...not enough hours in the day. Oh well, that's what makes life fun. Finished her sign and most of the "craft projects" for her party...have I gone overboard....heck NO...well no...perhaps the jewels on her name pushed the sign a titch into the overboard category...oh well...I'm just so darn proud of her and want her to have a great first birthday.
(probably need to enlarge the picture - click on it - to see the sign in more detail)

Pj's

Watching morning cartoons in her new big girl pj's. We put socks on her to keep her feet warm. You can see that she has disposed of one of them overnight...Loves to wiggle her bare toes.

Close Ups

It's just too bad that McKenzie is so shy in front of the camera!

We are trying to teach her blow for her Birthday candle. She will do it sometimes like here when I ask her to Blow.
Playing with Mommy's old cell phone.

Steps

The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.
Chinese Proverb

Well, McKenzie began her journey yesterday by climbing a single step...today she has progressed to quickly traversing our staircase all the way to the landing. She stops at the landing and seems quite content there and will not do the last few steps to the top. Go figure.
Please forgive the photographic quality of these shots as it is difficult to take pictures and "spot" someone.

Firsts

Today we had two more firsts! McKenzie has been very interested in the stairs heading upstairs all week. She will crawl over and pull herself up and bang her hand on the second step. She will lift her legs but could not figure out how to get it up on the step. Today, Daddy was coming down the stairs which is all the incentive she needed to figure it out and officially did her first stair. This is a picture of her standing on her first step. By this time Daddy had gotten down to her and was helping to support her.
This afternoon after we had a relaxing morning, which was needed as McKenzie had a rough night, we headed to Chinook Mall for lunch.

After lunch we went to Build-a-Bear. Aunty Daphne gave us a coupon she had for $6 off so we went and got McKenzie her first Build-a-Bear. We were going to wait until she was a little older so she could pick it out herself but $6 is $6!

Watching the bear get stuffed.

Kissing the bear's heart.
Putting the heart in the bear.
McKenzie "meeting" her bear. The child is supposed to name the bear but since her vocabulary is limited to DaDa, Good Girl, Uh Oh, Yum and jibberish I temporarily gave her bear a name which she can change once she masters at least a handful of words.

Pretty girl

SMILE!

McKenzie discovered the side windows today.
Pretty girl
Looking good in her jacket.
This jacket was a baby gift from a friend at work. First time she is wearing it.

Fun new Toy

While Mommy was getting dressed this morning, McKenzie found a fun new toy to play with.

got milk?

Toy Box

I got a new toy box! Want to see?

We used to keep McKenzie's "downstairs" toys in a small basket. She has dragged enough stuff downstairs now that we thought it about time to get her an actual Toy Box. Found this at Home Sense and it is nice because it has no lid. She is not quite big enough to work a lid and this way she still has access to the toys when she wants to. The other nice thing is since it has working wheels she uses it like a toy and pushes or pulls it around the floor with her.

Splashing good time

Mike was telling me how McKenzie is like a splashing machine in her bath lately. She just goes crazy kicking her legs and splashing her hands. We thought it would be fun to capture it on film so, of course, when we tried to capture it today there was minimal splashing. Still fun to watch her enjoying her bath though.

Random things

I asked McKenzie to smile for the camera. This is what I got. Looks like certain looks are hereditary as this was the face I used to make for a Smile request when I was little...she did get something from me after all...lol.
Gonna get you Mom.

Here I am.
Relaxing after dinner with Dad and watching a little TV. She had to pop her jeans button as she ate so much stew and dumplings.

I FOUND THEM---WOOHOO

Okay so I know they say that you can never really get rid of anything on a computer but I thought I had done a really good job on these pics...however...I managed to find them. Here are some pics from this morning and one from the other day. Hope you enjoy. 19 for your viewing pleasure.
Taken the other day - snack time - goldfish crackers and juice while spying on the neighbours.
Saying goodbye to Daddy, as he is off to work.
Reading my book
Oooh Scary part.
That's better...they all live happily ever after.
This toy tastes good Shelby and Maks...thanks for letting me use it. (by the way we really should return this to Maks next time we see you Kari)
This pic is for my mom. Even though McKenzie is not actually sucking her thumb in this picture the hand position must bring back some memories for you mom.
I will have you all know that this mirror looked clean to the naked eye as I had cleaned it yesteday with windex...once I saw this I was grossed out.
Busy girl on the move.
Got to read another book now.
It's getting good...better sit up.
Let's go visit the baby in the much cleaner mirror. I had to get up and reclean the mirror. Used a damp paper towel and then a dry one ... no windex...so much cleaner.
Our tall baby girl
Coming to get Mom
WAIT ... what's that coming on TV
I'll be back later Mom
Gotta watch my show now.
