43/120 - Ducks Unlimited

We went to Polson Park in Vernon today. McKenzie had fun watching the ducks and really wanted to pet one. The ducks were, luckily, very good at avoiding little hands.

42/120 - Happy Easter Weekend

Or at least it is for me. I have tomorrow off so we can drive to Vernon for the weekend. 7 hours, 1 husband, 1 16 month old, 2 dogs, many bathroom breaks...sigh...are you thinking what I am thinking...rockin road trip (read no sarcasm there...no really).
Ready for bed...or a good game of tennis!
Just catching up with friends. (Shelby if you had a few hang ups tonight it was McKenzie, she called twice I know for sure and one more time but I am not sure it was you).

My boss Sandy, gave McKenzie an Easter gift. Since we are travelling to BC for Easter we let her open it tonight (one less thing to pack).

Hmm..What's this...A gift?!?

Here Mom, take the envelope while I read the card.

Uh huh, uh huh...

Um, I forgot - I don't read - Here Dad read this to me!

Now that we have that settled, what else is in here?

A floppy duck!
We had a little fashion show of the outfits Sandy gave her to make sure they would fit.

Styling in my pretty spring dress.

I'm so pretty.
Pretty top. (it has matching legging capri's but I did not want to push my luck that her good mood would hold to take her pj's off so everything went on over the pj's and the leggings would not fit that way.)

Cutie pie!
Thank you so much Sandy. She will be so cute once the weather cooperates and we can put her in her new clothes.
Also a Happy Birthday to Grandma T whom is 80 today. She does not have a computer but maybe she will pick up the good vibes I'm sending by writing her this (and being a good granddaughter I did already call her to wish her a happy day.)

40/120 - Framing

My cousin Duane and his friend Dennis came over today to help Mike start on the framing. A few hiccups but they made fairly good progress anyway. Due to scheduling conflicts they will not be able to continue until after Easter but there are WALLS in my basement...Woohoo!

Under stairs storage - one wall up and one almost finished.

39/120 - Piggy bank

My mom's friend Mary bought McKenzie an engraved piggy bank when she was born and put a full set of 2007 Canadian coins inside.
McKenzie decided that just because it was not "intended" to be a toy does not mean it can't be a toy!
Get in there you coin you!
What do you mean I have it upside down?

Are you sure?

In here you say?

Oh I see!

Birthday Party fun

McKenzie went to her friend Owen's 2nd birthday this afternoon. It was at the Southland Leisure centre Kinderroom. They had a large climbing gym and a couple of small teeter totters and some blocks. McKenzie spent most of her time picking up the blocks and handing them to various parents. She did try the climing gym a few times but did not enjoy the slide to get off of it.
What is that!
I think I like this one better.

Maybe I'll try this thing.

Up and up...

...and more up.

Not so sure about this!

Nope, I don't like this one little bit!!!
Ashlynn, Owen's sister, is 4 and sat at the bottom every time McKenzie tried the slide and encouraged her to go and then if she was upset at the bottom tickled her until she smiled. Such a good girl!

38/120 - What a difference a year makes!

April 2008 - 4 months old
End of March 2009 - 15.5 months old
Thanks for the coffee Dad ... I really needed this!
I almost feel human now!

Did I win?

WooHoo a free coffee!

37/120 - A playdate and a subfloor

McKenzie and I went over to Mikayla's house for a playdate today. We had to miss Mikayla's first birthday on the 14th as McKenzie had a runny and sneezy nose and I did not want to risk getting anyone sick.
Here are a few pics of the girls playing.

When we came home we had lunch with Mike and Duane and McKenzie went down for a nap. I went down to see the subfloor. They were almost done laying it. It took a little longer than they thought it would as the area by our drain for the furnace etc is really sloped.
Here is a pic of how much they had to build up the floor for level.

The floor.

It went down really fast - they started Friday morning and by Saturday afternoon they were done. Next weekend is framing!

35/120 - lazy Sunday

We had a really nice weekend. We were supposed to get started on the basement this weekend and I was anticipating a weekend where I hardly saw Mike. Instead we got delayed and had an unexpected family weekend together and it was really really nice. On Saturday, we went out and went to the Farmer's market to pick up something for my Grandma's 75th birthday coming up in April. We wandered around for a bit and had homemade perogies and stuffed peppers for lunch. Yummm! We got home and Mike and McKenzie had a nice long nap and I went out and did some errands. Spent a fun evening hanging out.
Today we had a relaxing morning and I actually got a nice long soak in a bubble bath ... heaven. After McKenzie's nap we ran out and picked up my laptop (had to take it in because McKenzie figured out how to take my shift key off but none of us could get it back on), stopped at tim's where McKenzie flirted with this one year old at the next table ... Jack the baby with the bluest eyes I have ever seen, and made a quick stop at Home Depo. McKenzie was in love with the balloon displays they had all over there so we finally had to stop and ask some attendants if she could have one. They said sure and when they brought over the balloon her whole face just lit up. She started to coo and was just generally charming...well then they could not do enough for her and brought her a second ballon and chased all over the store to find her some string so she would not lose one. She already can wrap boys around her finger apparently...Yikes!
So through all of this I had my camera and not one picture. DeeAnn how do you do it? I keep forgetting to snap the picture and though I do get lots of shots feel I keep missing all these fun little memories. How do you remember to take the picture...post it note on the inside of your eyelids? Any tips or tricks you can share would be appreciated!
Here are some pics I snapped this afternoon so as not to disappoint my "fans". Hope everyone had a great weekend.

One little girl...one BIG mess!
Up close and personal.

Oooh scary part!

How do you get this one over here again?

Playing with our Home Depo balloon.
Fun!
Did you see how much snow we got? I thought you said it was spring Mom?
Oh you meant spring in Calgary hyuk hyuk!
