90 - Lip pursing for maximum painting talent

Apparently, in order to paint well, you must purse your lips...
...again...

...and again...

...and again!
Never gets old.

89 - Challenge Word "Imaginge"

TV. If kids are entertained by two letters, imagine the fun they'll have with twenty-six. Open your child's imagination. Open a book. ~Author Unknown
Okay, okay so the word from DeeAnn was Imagine but this post is more about imagination. McKenzie loves books and always has. She enjoys sitting quietly and "reading" to herself. I hope to continuously foster this love of reading as it will serve her well in life. I saw this quote and laughed out loud. It made me think of her.
Below is some fun with a flashlight...see what you started Heather??!!??
McKenzie was having fun wandering around tonight and checking things out with the flashlight. Then when I turned out the light she pretended the light was a monster and we had to get away from it. She has quite the little imagination on her.

OOoooooohh Scary!

88 - A heart and an ant

We went to Ikea after work today and bought a few new dishes. Ours were either chipped, broken, or in pretty poor shape and I had found some online there that looked nice but more importantly were cheap.
McKenzie decided to make use of the wrapping paper while I took the stickers off.
She told me she was going to draw a heart. Then she told me to look at her heart...not bad for a 2 year old.

Then she wanted to draw my feet and I had to draw hers.
She got back down to drawing things and colouring them in and then...

...she dropped the pencil and came flying over to me and stood on my feet saying "Ant, Mommy. I saw ant. Scary!" We could find no ant so I don't know if she actually saw one or was just playing. I think it suspect that she was so "scared" of the ant inside when if she sees one outside she gets down on all fours and says "Ant soooo cute".

87 - Whoooooo you foolin'?

I went over to Daphne's today for our once a month crafting morning and forgot a camera. Figures, because McKenzie and Owen were super cute.
I have a ton of projects to get done or that I want to at least start the planning for and all I got done in 3.5 hours of visiting was one of the two birthday cards I have to get made for April.
AND, when it was finished, I wasn't super happy with it so will be trying again.
Can anyone guess who it might have been intended for????

86 - Garden statue

McKenzie and I went to Superstore for a bit this afternoon. While there, I saw that they their garden statues out. One of ours was smashed last year so I thought it might be nice to replace it. I let McKenzie choose. What did she choose?
The pretty fairies? No!
The bobbing head kitties? No!
The cute kids? No!
A strange kind of cow that is sitting like a dog? Yes!
Here she is petting the cow.
And hugging the cow.
And kissing the cow.
She wanted to bring the cow to her room at nap time and had it to the stairs at bed time before I caught her and told her to put it back. Will be interesting to see if we can get the cow out into the garden this summer.

84 - What did Calgary do to tick off Mother Nature

Picture taken in my car when I was heading out to lunch in the overcast skies and flurries around 11am
Picture taken in my car when I was heading home in the cloudless sunny sky around 5 pm.
Yup, that would be a 17 degree shift in 6 hours...slow day for Calgary...why do we live here again???

83 - Ramblings of a woman on lots of cold medicine

This one was taken last night just before bed and after I had posted...it just never gets old how cute she is with these glasses on!
Tonight Daddy was trying to do a steam to help clear up some conjestion but "someone" had to find out what he was doing.

Daddy took this one from his point of view, "What are you doing, Daddy?"
Then McKenzie wanted a turn under the towel.
On a totally different note...my massage therapist is also trying to get pregnant with their second child so we talk about that a lot during my hour. She recommended a web site where you can buy Ovulation tests and Pregnancy tests for a really reasonable price (less than a dollar per test). I ordered a bunch and was reading the directions tonight as they are not "mid-stream" tests like I am used to. There was a warning that high HcG levels can be signs of other things besides pregnancy. Now, I know that I was not a biology major or anything but if you suspect you have either of the two underlined conditions below...would you really also be suspicious that you are pregnant and feel the need to test for it???

82 - Can it be...is it coming...for real???

It's almost here - It's safe to say,
I saw a Crocus yesterday
Its' colors bright - A lovely thing
My heart Rejoiced! 'Twil soon be Spring!
Compared to SOME PEOPLE`S gardens that are coming along nicely (cough cough, MOM) we in Calgary have a long way to go; however, it is still nice to see some new green life peaking through the dead dregs of last year.
Is it wrong that I was over the top super excited to see buds on my lilac?
I have coveted a lilac of my own for years and last year we finally bought one but I wasn't sure if I had managed to kill it.

81 - Without enough sleep, we all become tall two-year olds

Bedtime Buddies! McKenzie now likes to have not only Lambie, but also his buddies, Teddy Bear and Puppy with her at bedtime.
She is doing better today but still not 100%. I love my daughter very, very much but the word "Bedtime" was very sweet tonight.

80 - I've had better days mom!

5 hours at urgent care this morning.
+
1 sick little girl.
=
2 very tired parents
McKenzie has had this chesty cough for a few days but this morning she woke up just feeling awful and with a slight temp so we took her into Urgent Care. It is a virus and she has a very red ear which could be a viral ear infection. They gave us a prescription in case her ear gets worse. Now it is a waiting game to see how she does. Fingers crossed everybody!

79 -

To be overcome by the fragrance of flowers is a delectable form of defeat. ~Beverly Nichols
I walked into Safeway today for a couple of things and was overwhelmed by the smell of this heather they had set up on a stand. I could not resist and bought myself some. My preferance always does run to flowers that look like they have been picked from a meadow or forest walk so I also find them quite lovely.
Daddy was quietly playing his game when McKenzie brought her rocking horse over to this exact spot to ride...do you think she wanted some attention???

78 - Painting Diva 2

You may remember that I took my painting diva to a paint your own ceramics place the other day.
Here are her masterpieces.

77 - Best year EVER!

So I may be a little biased but I think that 1977 was the best year ever and since this is day 77 for posting I thought I would pay homage to this wonderful number.
My mom saved all these cards since 1977 from when I was born. I am planning, in all my spare time, to put them all in a scrapbook. Another project for the list.
And speaking of projects, I will have to place another call to the "Procrastination Fairies" who have NOT stopped by to clean up this room for me. Yikes!

76 - Smile it's St Patrick's Day...

Apparently McKenzie only feels so so about this as a "real" holiday.
Salvation in a bottle???
I got the herbs today that the accupuncturist I am seeing has recommended to help Mike and I along in our quest for a baby number two.
I was somewhat skeptical when I saw this acupuncturist when we were trying to get pregnant with McKenzie.
For many different reasons I have become a convert and really believe that there is something to this acupuncture thing.
It worked to help me the first time and I figure it doesn't cost much (my work covers 80%), it doesn't hurt and only takes 1.25 hours once or twice a month at my discretion. The results are all positive for me so far.
My other option would be to keep trying on our own and if still no luck in 6 more months wait another 6 - 9 months to get in to see the fertility doctor who will likely tell us again there is no physical reason preventing us from getting pregnant and recommend we start fertility drugs which are expensive (not covered) and have terrible side effects.
..hmmmm...
let me think about this for a minute....
a fairly easy decision for me....
not right for everyone and I would never try to force accupuncture on anyone
BUT
I would highly recommend the guy I see if there is anyone who is looking to try it in the Calgary area.

75 - A cookie; a coffee; a wrestling match and 5 bruises

A cookie:
McKenzie and I took a quick trip to Safeway after I got home from work and I bought her a little treat. An M&M cookie. She was very excited about her cookie.
A coffee:
Then after I was done with my tea, McKenzie asked if she could have "coffee". I figured sure...she was due for her yearly roll up picture anyway.
March 2010 (2 years, 3 months)
April 2008 (4 months)
March 2009 (1 year, 3 months)
A Wrestling Match:
We went downstairs to say goodnight to Daddy and a small wrestling match ensued.

And the winner and still champion!
5 Bruises:
So if they were the ones wrestling...how come I'm the one with all the bruises??
The bruises above were from my acupuncture appointment tonight. He performed cupping on me which left these marks. The bruise below is from an altercation I had with a fire hydrant...the fire hydrant won!
